03/15/12 ... Florida Christian College and five students filed a lawsuit against the State of Florida because they are not permitted to participate in the Florida Resident Access Grant. The state provides tuition assistance to qualified students attending private colleges and universities. The statute requires "a secular purpose." While students attending nine other Christian colleges receive the assistance, Florida Christian was determined not to have "a secular purpose." The lawsuit challenges this.

02/13/12 ... A nursing and rehabilitation facility settled two lawsuits filed by Seventh-Day Adventists who were fired because of their refusal to work on Saturdays, based on their religious beliefs. The EEOC filed suits, which were settled for $125,000 and certain other requirements.
